2018 Pacific Rim Yacht Challenge
The 2018 event is being hosted in New Zealand by the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club (TYPBC).

Notice of Race
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in “The Racing Rules of Sailing”. A PDF version of the NOR can be downloaded here.
Entry Form
The entry fee for the regatta will be $US300 per person. If you are participating in the regatta as an overseas guest or on the local NZ sailing team you need to complete the event entry form and return to us as soon as possible with your payment. The form is available to download here.

Proposed Format of the Regatta
Race format will be windward leewards and / or Olympic course.
Friday 9th March 2018 – Opening Ceremony and welcome from the Mayor of Tauranga followed by BBQ meal
Saturday 10th March – Practice Day
Sunday 11th March – Races 1 and 2
Monday 12th March – Races 3 and 4
Tuesday 13th March – Races 5 and 6
Wednesday 14th March – Lay day – Local sightseeing and Clubnight racing
Thursday 15th March – Races 7 and 8
Friday 16th March – Race 9, closing ceremony, prize giving by Mayor and formal banquet
Excursions
Monday – Waihi or Waihi Beach
Tuesday – Local to Tauranga – Mauao / hot pools / local history
Wednesday – Cultural experience in Whakatane – Mataatau Marae
Thursday – Mills Reef / Quarry Walk / Shopping at Bethlehem
Please note that all excursions are still to be confirmed.
Boats
We will be using the Noelex 25 class boat. These are trailer yachts and it is envisioned that there will be 2 boats per country supplied allowing for a team of 4 per boat.
Guests
The entry fee for the regatta will be $US300 per person. Guests should aim to arrive in Tauranga on Friday 9th March and depart on Saturday 17th March 2018. The opening ceremony is scheduled to start from 5:30pm at TYPBC.
Each attending guest will need to provide a completed entry form along with the entry fee. The form is available to download here.
Community and Hosts
To our local community.
We are expecting approximately 100 guests from Australia, Canada, Japan, Russia and the USA to participate in this yachting challenge in March 2018.
Guests are home hosted for the week of the event, so this is a call out for anyone able to host one of more guests for the week of the regatta, to get in touch. It is always a privilege to host someone from overseas, and learn about their culture.
